About Me

I make abstract quilts that seek to balance a chaotic world with calm and control. In my work, circle and swirl motifs impart feelings of wholeness and harmony as they generate movement across expansive color fields. Clean lines organize shapes and create structure. Each quilt combines intricate techniques with minimalist design, evoking beauty from the interplay of complexity and simplicity.

An intense curiosity is the foundation of my artistic practice, which relies on a variety of tools. Some are cutting edge, like my longarm quilting machine and its 14-foot-wide frame. Others, like scissors, are rooted in the time-honored tradition of American quiltmaking. My love of bold, graphic compositions is informed by a deep appreciation of mid-century design and the modernist movement.

I lean heavily on color and structure to express movement and meaning. Most of my palettes are hand-dyed or hand-printed on cotton cloth using fiber reactive dyes. Oversized shapes are cut and sewn together with precision. The final stitching motif binds the three layers of a quilt together, creating textured secondary designs.

Working on projects that are inherently slow and time consuming is an important form of resistance in this fast-paced modern world. The repetitive motion of my hands quiets my mind, bringing clarity and focus. By adding my voice to the long chorus of makers who harness the familiarity of fiber to drive change, I hope to open doors for future generations of quilters.
